Government imposed strict restrictions today in Kashmir after the killing of top Hizbul Mujahidin commander Riyaz Naikoo in Beighpora village of Pulwama district on Wednesday. The village is about 40 kilometres from Srinagar.
The 35 year old Naikoo, who was carrying Rs 12 lakh on his head, was the top recruiter of local people into the militant organisation.
Naikoo’s killing is considered as the biggest counter-insurgency achievement of the year so far, which comes days after militants carried out a deadly attack in North Kashmir’s Handwara, killing five security personnel including a colonel and a major rank army officer.
